How to Make a Product Demo Video From Your Website
Your website already holds the script, the claims and the brand for a product demo video. How to pull them out, shape a 60-second demo and keep it on brand.
Short answer
Your website already contains most of a product demo video: the problem you solve (the hero line), the three or four features that matter (the feature section), proof (reviews, logos, numbers), your colours, typeface and tone. Turn that into a short film with four beats: problem, product, how it works, what to do next. Keep it to 30 to 90 seconds and show the product, not only words about it.
Step 1: Mine your own site
Open your home page and one product page and copy these into a document:
- The promise: your headline and the sentence under it.
- The problem: what life looks like before your product. Often it is in the first section or the FAQ.
- Three features that a customer would actually mention to a friend. Ignore the rest.
- One proof point you can back up: a review, a customer name you have permission to show, a number you can source.
- The call to action exactly as it reads on your buttons.
- The brand: logo, colours, fonts, the way you write (formal, playful, technical).
Step 2: Shape it into four beats
- Problem (5 to 10 seconds): one relatable moment, not a list of pains.
- Product (5 seconds): name and what it is, in one line.
- How it works (20 to 50 seconds): the three features, each shown in use.
- Next step (5 seconds): the call to action and your web address.
A demo is a how-to video with a different goal. Instead of teaching every step, it shows just enough that the viewer believes it will be easy for them.
Step 3: Show, do not list
For every feature, decide what the viewer will see. For software, that is the screen doing the thing. For a physical product, that is the product being used. Avoid slides full of bullet points; if a feature cannot be shown, it probably belongs on the website rather than in the demo.
Step 4: Keep it on brand
The demo should feel like your website in motion: the same colours, the same typeface, the same tone of voice. That is also why starting from the website works well. Tools now exist that do this step for you: nine.film makes short animated films in your brand from your website, reading your colours, type and tone so you do not have to write a brief from scratch.
Step 5: Put it where the decision happens
Put the demo near the top of the page where people decide: the home page hero, the pricing page, or a sales email. Add captions, since many people will watch without sound. Use a poster frame that shows the product, not a logo on a blank background.

Questions people ask
How long should a product demo video be?
For a home page or product page, 30 to 90 seconds is usually enough to show the problem, the product and the three features that matter. Longer walkthroughs belong in a help centre or a sales call.
What is the difference between a demo video and an explainer video?
An explainer video explains an idea or a problem, often with abstract visuals. A demo video shows the actual product being used. Many short brand films combine both: a line of explanation, then the product in use.
Can I make a demo video without filming?
Yes. Screen recordings work for software, and animated films work for most products and services. Some tools can build an animated brand film directly from your website.
